A shirtless man wearing a black bow tie and a lovely woman in a knee-length white dress arrived at Savage Race Maryland, ready to embark on the adventure of a lifetime – literally.
Her white dress and delicate white veil didn’t stay white for very long.
Endurance training is a huge part of preparing for a mud run, and so is general strength training. But one thing that you don’t want to neglect is training your grip!
Picture this: You’re cruising right along at Savage Race. You conquer some obstacles. You get a little (or a lot) muddy, and you’re soaked from head to toe. You’re feeling pretty confident. Suddenly, you round the bend and there looms Sawtooth. It’s a 35-foot span of monkey bars with a gnarly tooth in the center, and failure means a 10 foot drop into muddy water below. Are you ready?
Participating in Savage Race is an epic experience, but coming to cheer on your friends and family can be just as much fun. The Savage Race HQ team put together this top 5 list of spectator spots that you absolutely don’t want to miss. Read on for more…
It should have been her first day of 7th grade, but instead, Shelby Daniel was in the hospital.
Shelby’s life changed drastically when she was suddenly diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes at just 12 years old.
She spent a week in a children’s hospital when her pancreas quit producing insulin and her immune system began attacking her own body. Her biggest concern was that she might not be able to continue living the athletic lifestyle she had grown to love.
Keith Allen, self-proclaimed “OCR Addict” with plenty of experience in the obstacle course racing industry, recently published an article highlighting Savage Race on the Obstacle Racing Media website.
“Savage has come a long way from their first event in 2011. They have added large scale innovative obstacles, an upgraded website with top notch customer service, and most importantly more participants,” says Keith. You can read the rest of Keith’s article here:
“We appreciate the time Keith took to put together this article,” comments Sam Abbitt, CEO and Co-Founder of Savage Race. “He does a great job of showing the heart behind Savage Race, including our strong focus on producing a quality event and our excitement for the future of our company.”
Keith Allen is an Air Conditioning Salesman and an exhausted father of two. When not carrying his children around in Baby Bjorns he is often found cooking delicious homemade quesadillas to fuel his hunger from running OCR’s.

Training properly will allow you to get out there and conquer the world’s best obstacles at Savage Race and have a ton of fun while you’re doing it.
Change.
