Behind each Savage Race event there is a Senior Event Planner (SEP) in charge. The SEP is a key role whose duties include negotiation, management, procurement and budgeting. Savage SEPs serve as the “quarterbacks” of our event team and are relied upon to manage and deliver Savage Race events across the country..
Responsibility Details
- Manage approximately 7 events per year
- Coordinate with vendors, sponsors, marketing team, construction team and volunteer coordinator to ensure seamless event execution
- Create event-specific budgets, site plans and contracts
- Negotiate vendor contracts, venue leases and sponsorships
- Manage and serve as mentor for event support staff, to include Junior Event Planners, Volunteer Coordinator, and Interns
- Work with construction team to develop obstacles and race course
Qualifications
- 3-6 years’ work experience in project management or event operations
- Ability to meet deadlines and execute under pressure
- Detail oriented
- Strong organizational skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and the desire to mentor and develop others
- Willingness and ability to quickly learn from mistakes and adapt processes accordingly
- Can be characterized both as a “team player” and a “team leader”
- Proven history of creative problem solving
- Must demonstrate excellence in communication ability, both spoken and written
- Will do whatever it takes (within ethical standards) to get the job done!
