Joe McCall & Corinne Konrad took the plunge at Davy Jones’ Locker and committed their lives to one another on October 24, 2015 at Savage Race Florida.
The couple first met when Joe agreed to help Corinne, who was just a friend of a friend at the time, move out of her apartment. Joe happened to be training for an obstacle course race and it came up in conversation. A few weeks later, they went for a run together and soon after that they started dating.
Joe proposed in 2014 on a beautiful stretch of isolated cliffs in Ireland, and Corrine said yes.
They decided to get married at Savage Race, and according to Joe, “My wife and I couldn’t be happier with how the day went. The Savage Race staff were more than accommodating, and it was awesome working with a local Orlando-based company as well.”
With a wedding reception planned in their home town, two hours from the race location, Joe and Corinne only expected a small group of wedding guests to show up as spectators for the race.
Joe says, “Turns out a mud race wedding garners a lot of interest!” They were pleasantly surprised that nearly 30 guests made the drive to be a part of their wedding ceremony.
Corinne says, “Aside from being the most anxious and excited I have ever been in my entire life before a race, a few notable experiences for me were jumping into Shriveled Richard (what a wake-up call!), overcoming some height fears while climbing over the big cargo net, and finally, seeing our family and friends waiting and cheering us on as we approached Davy Jones’ Locker.”
Joe shares, “I think it’s safe to say that Davy Jones’ Locker will always hold a special place in our hearts. My favorite part was definitely carrying Corinne across the finish line!”
Congratulations, Joe and Corinne. We look forward to seeing you in 2016, and wish you all the best as you enjoy your first year of marriage together!
