60,000 pounds of ice. Full submersion. Colder than you can even imagine.
If you’ve been around obstacle course racing (or other intense training activities) for awhile, you’ve probably heard about ice baths and their place in speeding up recovery.
According to a 2013 study, “cold water immersion helps to maintain sprint performance during consecutive days of training” and another study concludes “…under appropriate conditions (whole-body cooling, recovery from sprint exercise), postexercise cooling seems to have positive effects that are large enough to be relevant for competitive athletes.”
While we can’t claim to have designed Shriveled Richard with your recovery specifically in mind, we do agree that a quick plunge in the ice during Savage Race is a great way to get your heart pumping and your blood flowing.
And when it comes to recovery, NuAquos sports drink has you covered both on the Savage Race course and at the finish line. An ice cold NuAquos will help you rehydrate, restore, and recover and is a delicious way to celebrate at the end of your mud run.
Now check out these top 20 most frigid photos of Shriveled Richard and try not to laugh too hard… because this will be YOU at your next Savage Race.
